Tauber faculty select 2020 TIME Dealer of the Year Finalists

ANN ARBOR, MI  — Fifty new car dealers - out of more than 16,000 dealers nationwide - are nominated for the prestigious 2020 TIME Dealer of the Year Award. A panel of Tauber Institute business and engineering faculty have selected finalists from each of the four National Automobile Dealers Association regions, as well as the national award winner for the 51st annual presentation of the award. The nominees will be honored - and the national winner announced - on February 15 at the 103rd annual National Automobile Dealers Association Show in Las Vegas. In appreciation of the Tauber Institute's expertise, TIME and Ally have established an annual scholarship for Tauber Institute students.

The TIME Dealer of the Year program honors new-car dealers in America who exhibit exceptional performance in their dealerships and perform distinguished community service. Dealers are nominated for the award by members of the Automotive Trade Association Executives. The Tauber Institute faculty panel then evaluates the competitors both on the business practices in their dealerships and on their contribution to their community. Judging criteria for the business component include customer satisfaction; personnel competence, training, attitude and record of service; financial status; ethics; new-car sales record; used-car sales record; service sales record; share of the market; customer satisfaction; physical plant and facilities; and dealer association participation. Judging criteria for the community component are service to community and humanity; civic, political and educational activities; and additional contributions to benefit others.
