Josh Cascade joins Tauber as Visiting Executive

The Tauber Institute for Global Operations is pleased to announce that Joshua Cascade will join the institute in 2020 as a visiting executive. Cascade said, "I met the folks at Tauber and I got really excited. I was like, ‘Wow! What do they know, what do they do, what are they learning?’ Private Equity industry needs you."

Josh Cascade is a private equity investor with over 24 years of industry experience who has led or co-led leveraged buyout transactions representing over $2 billion in aggregate acquisition value. After earning his BBA at the University of Michigan, Cascade began his career at The Blackstone Group, then joined the investment team at Odyssey Investment Partners. Cascade was most recently a Managing Partner at Wellspring Capital with a 16-year tenure at the firm. Cascade has been a frequent guest lecturer at MBA programs, including the Yale School of Management, Columbia Business School, Michigan Ross, NYU Stern School, and University of Chicago Booth.

Cascade is eager to work with the Engineering and Business collaboration that is central to the Tauber Institute. “I can tell you it makes no difference whether you are Engineering or Business by way of background," Cascade told Tauber Institute students, "I don’t think it makes a difference what your training was before Tauber if you are interested in Private Equity…. I went to your Spotlight! Competition, I saw what you guys are doing: it’s awesome. And, frankly, I would say, ahead of what most private equity firms are doing in terms of some of the technology."

Tauber Business Co-Director Damian Beil is excited about the perspective Cascade will share with institute students, as opportunities for operations professionals are rapidly expanding throughout Private Equity. Beil said, "Josh is coming on board with a passion for Michigan, teaching and mentoring students, and sees huge potential for Tauber students' expertise in Private Equity operations. The key things that make Tauber projects so great are what make for great Private Equity outcomes: challenging projects, huge improvement outcomes, and extremely short timelines. Tauber seeks to be a leader in this space. Josh will be indispensable for this effort."
