LeadershipAdvantageSM— Developing Team-Oriented Leaders

The Tauber Institute expands students' expertise and prepares them to take on roles of greater responsibility. In today's demanding environment, superb individual performance must also be accompanied by team leadership qualities. Tauber's LeadershipAdvantage Program develops successful team members who move into the fast lane and are able to lead throughout the enterprise.

The LeadershipAdvantage Program consists of a series of eleven intensive modules or workshops in which students are required to participate during their first year in the Tauber program. These modules provide methodical and comprehensive preparation to maximize individual and team performance on the summer team project. The modules are typically held on weekday evenings (and occasional Saturdays) and are led by renowned industry experts.

LeadershipAdvantage provides a continuous and in-depth program that includes:

A Personal Leadership Assessment
During the first semester in the program, Tauber students complete a personal leadership assessment. This profile addresses both team leadership interaction and individual leadership characteristics critical to succeeding in the industry. The assessment gives an accurate appraisal of strengths and weaknesses and prompts introspection of the individual's leadership style.

Action-based Team Building Courses

These two half-day active-learning seminars place Tauber students into conditions designed to develop communication, planning and cooperation skills. In these modules, students are presented and challenged with incomplete data situations, ambiguous or contradictory goals, and diverse styles of communication and leadership. This hands-on training helps develops a unified group more capable of engaging in challenging endeavors through positive teamwork.

Team Dynamics Training

Throughout the year, guest lecturers lead interactive discussions on such topics as recognizing and adapting to different communication styles, assigning team roles and goal setting, managing conflict, decision making and the role of power, influence, and leadership in business.

Leadership is always in demand!

Teamwork and leadership develop through training and practice. By providing Tauber students high-quality leadership training and combining it with a top-notch education in both business and engineering, the Tauber Institute develops graduates who find rewarding careers with competitive companies.
