The Tauber Institute Program

If you're interested in an operations or manufacturing-related career, the Tauber Institute provides you with all the tools you need to succeed:

  • A cross-disciplinary, action-based education
  • Superior team leadership experience
  • A "foot in the door" at leading companies

The Tauber Institute works with world-class firms to develop top-level graduate students into superior operations professionals — managers who are fluent in the underlying technology of their industry, yet want to apply their talents to the broader challenges of business — leaders who can guide their companies through the vast changes ahead and help them emerge the victor.

Sherri Gwizdala - MBA '09

"The Tauber Institute has allowed me to differentiate myself in my pursuit of a career in general management and has given me the opportunity to take on
challenging leadership experiences through my    internship and my role on the Student Advisory    Board."

Several business and engineering degree programs participate in
the Tauber Institute, ranging from the graduate to the doctoral level.
These programs, in conjunction with Tauber, meet the diverse demands of industry and our students. Although the Tauber Institute, itself, does not confer degrees, the Institute offers a career-building operations component that complements selected degrees from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business and College of Engineering. Successful completion of all Tauber requirements is recognized on student transcripts.

The Tauber Institute's degree program "overlay" approach offers several advantages for both students and companies associated
with Tauber. As a degree add-on program, Tauber is able to address career preparation issues from both a curricular and hands-on perspective, developing and implementing solutions in both channels. This structure allows Tauber to be quicker and more responsive to the ever-changing needs of industry than non-overlay based programs. In addition, the Tauber Institute's LeadershipAdvantageSM Program and team project experience prepare students to hit the ground running upon graduation.

  • Tauber Institute participation does not normally lengthen degree completion times, nor does it involve additional expense.
  • Generous scholarship opportunities are available.
  • Team-based summer internships are high-level, guaranteed, and paid.
  • Students must first be admitted to the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business or College of Engineering before they are considered for admission to the Tauber Institute.
