IOE Students win First Place in Lean Student Paper Competition 4/08/2009 -- Tauber students David Hamilton (BSE-IOE/MSE-IOE ’09), Inder Dhillon (BSE-IOE/MSE-IOE ’10), and Brian Rumao (BSE-IOE/MSE-IOE ’10) have been awarded First Place in the 3rd Lean Student Paper Competition hosted by the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) for their paper, "Determining the Effectiveness of Specialized Bank Tellers."
The second place award went to Ozgur Kabadurmus with Auburn University, Auburn, Ala., for his paper, “A Comparative Study of POLCA and Generic CONWIP Production Control Systems in Erratic Demand Conditions.” Winning papers will be presented at the IIE Annual Conference in Miami, Florida, May 2009. Hamilton, Dhillon, and Rumao are fellows of the Tauber Institute for Global Operations and members of the Engineering Global Leadership (EGL) Honors Program at the University of Michigan..
